In Italy, Law 633/41 regulates the copyright on the use of photographs. The implications of this legislation are extended, in the basic elements, worldwide, thanks to the Berne Convention of 1971, the Universal Convention of copyright, and Directive 93/98/EEC which harmonizes the duration of protection for all countries of the Union to 70 years after the death of the author and making it compulsory to quote the author even after the purchase was made. Any use or violation of these rules is strictly prohibited.
